Gerald Morris.

The life of Pi

(Anything to do with Geoffrey Chaucer's The Squire's tale? It certainly looks like it. :) )

Yann Martel

Rebel of the Sands

(The Squire's Tale is the first book The Squire's Quest is the second to last book in a series of King Arthur retellings; the series starts off with a more slapstick style humor and gains depth as it goes. Not having read Chaucer (yet) I'm not sure what influence, if any, can be inferred.

EDIT: I should pay attention to which title was used. 8-} )

Alwyn Hamilton

The English Governess at the Siamese Court

@Meltintalle, Chaucer is a good read, all the more so as his Canterbury Tales is a series of stories rather than just one. Oh by the way, I did read the above title myself, even though it was first published before Australia's federation. (1/1/1901)
