Ooh, that's a really pretty dress, Christ Proclamer! Great ideas, too.

She WOULD wear first something like that and later she would wear Narnian dress like Susan and Lucy's. Maybe she would, but we don't know when they'll film HHB. Hey, maybe it'll be next! Hah.
When she's with Shasta in Part 1 of travel... you know.
Lucy:Do you remember who really defeated the White Witch?
Peter: Yes.
Susan:No.
Lucy:Do you both believe in Narnia?
Narnians, Caspian and Edmund:We believe.
Susan and Peter:Shut up.
Peter: Yes.
Susan:No.

Re: What would Aravis wear?
When creating the clothes for the Calormens you have to be careful. Over the years C.S. Lewis has gotten a lot of criticism for being racist because of the clothes and skin color of his supposed "evil people". Experts know that these claims are simply bad analysis, but not everyone will understand that, clothing designs should be as original as possible. Ideas should be taken from a variety of cultures in order to find that balance of the right look and being politically correct.

I was recently thinking that Aravis would look good in a patiala salwar.http://ladiesfashionclothes.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Khajoor-Salwar-Dress-Patiala-Salwar-Party-Salwar-Kameez.jpg when in Tashbaan with Lasaraleen.

Re: What would Aravis wear?
Lu_valient, I can really see her in one of those.
I thought maybe for shoes she'd wear slippers made out of a sort of transparent material with lots of glittery decorations on them. kind of like these shoes, but with the front and back being transparent too, and maybe in a different color.

Re: What would Aravis wear?
Doesn't Lewis describe Calormene shoes as slippers that curl up at the toes? Something like this: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-M7Gw929z-y8/TYrZ1XgIyYI/AAAAAAAAAwY/S7v1MGQlgUI/CurledToeArabianSlipper4.JPG&imgrefurl=http://pk-studios.blogspot.com/2011/03/slippers-fit-for-princess.html&usg=__PIVIft_GvRkFSihZZe44TTTfUz4=&h=1081&w=1600&sz=260&hl=en&start=0&sig2=U6oxeOYb2M5vPIgIL5Dduw&zoom=1&tbnid=T1-_PqydN5FqbM:&tbnh=139&tbnw=196&ei=4JQYTvO8M4rcgQez0bwM&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dcurl%2Btoe%2Bslippers%2Barabian%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DX%26biw%3D981%26bih%3D661%26tbm%3Disch%26prmd%3Divns&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=138&vpy=16&dur=2472&hovh=184&hovw=273&tx=48&ty=239&page=1&ndsp=14&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&biw=981&bih=661

Re: What would Aravis wear?
Aren't they cool? Though I do think they might be a little too embroidered for Aravis... Maybe Lasaraleen?
Does anyone have pics of pantaloons? If they're not too girly, maybe Aravis would wear them for riding under her armor (which she can't wear all the time).

Re: What would Aravis wear?
Ooh, pretty! But I think even at home Aravis would wear more subdued colors, if not outright rough clothes. Something like this, just with no embroidery. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt ... 81&bih=661
Again, sorry for the long link, lol. Can anyone tell me how to shorten them?

Re: What would Aravis wear?
I based my Aravis Tarkheena costume on the Pauline Baynes illustrations, and also on the ones by Dawn D. Davidson found on The Lion's Call.
Here is my costume:
The Aslan plooshie is not the official one- I bought a plush lion at Toys R Us, then added a Star of David bought at a jewelry store.

It's cool, but it's kind of a bad angle to see the whole costume, Aravis.

Re: What would Aravis wear?
I know this is a guy's outfit, but the only thing I was interested in was the tunic. It almost looks armored, and I was wondering what a suit of Calormene armor might look like for our heroine.

Re: What would Aravis wear?
There is a painting by William Adolphe Bouguereau called "Tricoteuse" that I have dubbed "Aravis Tarkheena" because the girl in the picture reminds me way too much of her.
Here it is:
http://www.artrenewal.org/artwork/007/7 ... e-huge.jpg
The paisley and blue especially made me think of her. I can imagine this being a Calormene outfit. Plus the buildings do look Middle Eastern/Mediterranean in general.
And yes, I do have a copy of it in my bedroom The original is at the Appleton Museum of Art in Ocala, FL...making it the Bouguereau painting closest to where I live. Bouguereau is my favorite painter, btw, if you could not tell.
