poems by wild rose

Postby wild rose » Mar 18, 2011 9:56 am

I wrote this poem today, it started with just a picture in my mind, of a little squirrel, sitting by its window and watching the snow fall outside and hoping for spring to come. Then I got inspired to write this little poem, hope you like it :)
(I came up with a name :D )

A Wish for Spring
It has been winter for ever so long
How I miss spring’s sweet song
How I wish the snow would melt
And the rain on my window would pelt
How I wish the green grass would grow
And replace the white winter snow
How I wish the flowers would bloom
And the sun would shine in my room
I wish the clouds would roll away
Mother said they will someday
When Aslan will come, winter shall end
And we shall have spring again
But we must wait for His perfect time
After all He is not a tame lion
I must be patient, I must wait
And above all, I must never lose faith
And one day He will come
And have winter over and done
With Him there will be two sons of Adam, and two daughters of Eve
And they shall become our kings and queens
And the reign of the Witch will come to an end
And all wrongs will be right again
But for now I must be patient, I must wait
And I will always, always keep the faith

How beautiful! You certainly have a talent for poetry Wild Rose! The imagery in this poem is absolutely wonderful. Keep writing and posting :)
Wrong will be right when Aslan comes in sight / At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more / When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death / And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again

thank you eveyone :ymblushing: I'm so glad you liked it. Here's another one that I wrote :)

The Call of a Dryad

The rain is falling gently down
On this delightful summer eve
Come, forget the arrangements you have made
And take an evening stroll with me

Feel the rain upon your face
As it purifies the evening air
Feel it as it gently pours
Making all around green and fair

Come, come remove your shoes
Of them you have no need
Remove your socks and with delight
Feel the wet mud with your bare feet

Come with me into my palace
Come, come great and small
Come, come the rain you need not fear
The summer rain is good for all

The trees will form the palace roof
The grass the palace floor
And the flowers are the jewels
Tell me, is there need for something more

Leave behind you cares
Do what I know you should
Come and feel the summer rain
And stroll with me in the evening wood

This one is from King Caspian's point of view as he is sailing away on the Dawn Treader, heading out to open sea in search of the lost Lords, and he takes one look back

One Last Look

The sun is making it’s downward journey
And casts its last light upon the sea
And as I stand and watch it sink
I wonder what tomorrow will hold for me

I am sailing into the unkown
I know not what lies ahead
I am sailing to the east
Fulfilling a promise I once said

To find the Lords that have long been lost
To Aslan I made this vow
And I will sail till I’ve found them all
Even though I am not sure how

I know not what lies ahead
But that will never stop me
I will not allow the quest to end
Because of my uncertainty

Onward, onward will I sail
To do what I know I must
And I have little fear or worry
For in Aslan I put my trust

Tomorrow the sun will rise
In the direction that I do sail
And if I look ahead and not behind
I know my heart will not fail

Farewell sun, tomorrow you will rise
And will greet me with your rays
And I will smile that by your guide
I will sail yet another day

thank you :)

I wrote this one when I was in a very foolish mood

A Eustace Complaint

Oh wretched mess that I am in
Thanks to those Pevensies
Who dragged me from my blessed room
Into some boat upon the sea

And now I am stuck with all them
And they are a rotten bunch
And I must sit and bear their jokes
And the disgusting food they served for lunch

How proud they are of this toy boat
It is really nothing more
Well their pride will come to a fall
As it always has before

They have with them a dreadful mouse
Who talks a dreadful lot
I have told them to tie him up
But of course….they did not

Oh bother there’s the dinner bell
I suppose I should go and dine
But mark my words I will come back
And finish this little rhyme

thank you :)

This is a poem from Queen Helen's point of view, as she looks on her baby daughter, who I am assuming is the first human girl born in Narnia

Queen Helen, On the Birth of Her First Daughter

My little angel come at last
You fill me with joy untold
My dear, you are the first girl
To be born in this magic world

You are so pure, so sweet
My darling little dear
How glad I am that you are mine
How blessed to hold you dear

Now you are small but you will grow
Learn to speak and walk
And you will play with the animals
For you know my dear, they talk

The dryads will sing you to sleep
With their voices soft and calm
The fauns will play music for you
And you can dance all day long

Your father and I are here for you
Should you need help when in distress
Life has just started for you
Welcome to Narnia, my little princess

Hey wild rose,

You are on a roll. I liked all of your new offerings. I enjoy the light-hearted feel that you put into your words. I look forward to reading more of your work soon.

thank you everyone :)

this next poem was inspired by a picture drawn by Beginte.http://forum.narniaweb.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2414 I saw it and came up with this rhyme (I hope you don't mind Beginte ) although in my poem it features a still young Corin who is perhaps experiancing his very first crush. I was always under the impression that Lucy was quite older than Corin, (maybe five to seven years) maybe not, but that is the way I put it in the poem
It's a really silly poem but I thought there wouldn't be any harm in posting it :D

(Corin)
Queen Lucy, I have a confession to make
I’ve waited long enough
I’ve kept it for a while now
And keeping it has been tough

You know I’m not a child anymore
I am growing everyday
Soon I will be twelve
And am taller than I was yesterday

And now since I am grown
I have made up my mind
That you are the queen I should like
One day to be mine

(Lucy)
Oh Corin, Corin, you silly lad
My dear, you are still a child
You still are so young in heart
And do things rather wild

You are still young, still a boy
You have a ways to go
And though enchanted by your flattery
Young Corin, my response is no

(Corin)
I’m not a child, I have grown up
You yourself said so
Come now, just one kiss

(Lucy)
Corin, I said no

(Corin)
Is it so hard

(Lucy)
Hard, of course not you foolish one
But trust me when I say
There is no point in it being done

(Corin)
But Lucy

(Lucy)
Now Corin, stop your fretting
And behaving so absurd
Of this childish folly
I will hear not another word

(Corin)
Why Lucy dear, my heart is broken
Now tell me what shall I do

(Lucy)
Get some sense in your head
And fill it with wisdom too

Corin, you know very well
You have a ways to grow
Now don’t you roll your eyes at me
I speak the truth you know

(Corin)
Well Lucy, if you cannot say yes now
You know I can wait a longer while
Till the day you look at me
And say I’m no longer a child

(Lucy)
Oh Corin, you stubborn boy
Whatever has gotten into your head
Come my dear it is late
You must run off to bed

In this poem Lilliandil/Ramandu's Daughter wakes up early one spring morning and opening the curtains looks out the window

Morning Thoughts

I open up my window
And let in the morning light
I breathe the fresh morning air
Still filled with the remnants of the night

The sun’s early rays are glistening
And the dew reflects the her rays
How glad I am to be live and breathe
On this wonderful spring day

I look over and smile
And the sleeping form on the bed
I can’t believe it only a few months
Since the day that we were wed

I feel like we been together
Since the start if time
It seems I cannot remember a moment
When I was not his, nor he mine

He is smiling in his sleep
A lock of hair fallen out of place
And how gently in adorns
His sleeping, resting face

The sun begins to light the room
Outside the larks cheerily cry
And he stirs and looks at me
With happy, yet sleepy eyes

I believe it was for that smile
With which he blesses my every day
That I left the home where I had lived
And came to this land so far away

Well the morning has come at last
The room is filled with golden sunlight
Time for my dreamy thoughts to end
And start the day with joy and delight
