Heh, thanks. It's going quite well, and I'm starting to have fun again. :p Last night we practiced over and over again, my favorite scene - so, yeah.
Got another tonight too.

Hey, thought I'd post a little to tell everyone how rehearsal is going!! :)
Last night was the official 1st off book night - though I'd been off for awhile. Everyone did very well, and I'm almost surprised how well its going! It's getting even more fun too . .
I can't wait for Sunday. It's the first time with the pit!! That will be amazing! The first time I sing with a microphone too!

Hmm, I wish I could help . . but memorizing has always seemed to come pretty naturally. I'm guessing you have a bit of time, since its a christmas play? I usually just wait for them to come . . and do a little bit of practicing with my brothers help.
Keep us informed, Libby!! :)

Liberty Hoffman, do you have someone you can practice with? I haven't been in many performances, but in the few ones that I have, it's really helped me to have my mom or my brother read the lines that come before, in between, and after mine. Another piece of advice is to just take it a scene at a time. I'm sure you'll do great! :ymhug:

The Blindman's Sidekick. B-) I was also in Fred and Millie's party scene.

If you have someone who could read the script with you that usually helps me. My little sister would help me practice by reading all of the lines that weren't mine while we were washing the dishes. Also, just reading it aloud over and over usually helps. If I'm reading it by myself I usually read it through five times aloud and then I try to say everything without looking at the script. Hope that helps!

Good idea, dot - trying to say as much as you can without looking at the script is a good idea too. Maybe you could have someone read it to you and leave out some of the words so you can "fill in the blanks."

My favorite method for memorizing lines is and always will be having a friend or sibling read off my scene partner's lines. It's helpful, but it almost always gets a little crazy and fun too. :D I also take a sheet of paper and cover my own line and recite it. And for Shakespeare I record into a tape recorder and play it back.

Speaking of which, I need to have my act 1 Mrs. Darling lines memorized by... oh. Tomorrow. Um... I'd better get on that, huh? :p

Although I do not go to an acting school, I have been in several plays. I was Mrs. Lynde in Anne of Green Gables, Thing 1 in Seussical, Mrs Medlock, in the Secret Garden, The stepsister in Cinderella, Auntie Em in the Wizard of Oz, and Miss Sylvia Potter Porter in Annie get your Gun. I also have been in numerous church Easter anad Christmas pageants many times playing leads. I am presently a reporter which is a lead in the Best Christmas Present Ever. :)

Queen Susan, those sounds like fun parts and you've had lots! :)
It's exciting to think that every part is a new part to put on the list for the next play.

*drags the thread up from the depths*

So, how's everyone doing? I haven't been up too much since I last posted. I auditioned for Oklahoma this weekend but I didn't get a part. :( I'm getting kind of tired of auditioning. So far I've auditioned for five shows at the theater and I've only been in one. Oh well, the college is doing Hairspray in the spring.

Faun_Song: how did Peter Pan go? And did you get your Mrs. Darling lines memorized in time?

Elanor: how did your play go?

Libby: have you done yours yet?
