The Book Abbreviations: Other Meanings

Postby wolfloversk » Jun 20, 2011 11:32 am

Has anyone else noticed that some of the book abbreviations have been used for other stuff? If so which ones and for what?

Two that I noticed:

PC: As in the computer

SC: Slough Creek- a location in the videogame, WolfQuest, apparently it's actually located in Yellowstone.

I hope this is the right section for this topic :-s

MN- Minnesota, a state in the United States of America

LWW- ???

HHB- almost sounds like a Harry Potter book, but it is not

PC- something I despise and has gotten me into trouble because it is hard to keep up with.

VDT- very close to dV/dT, which is a Calculus term.

SC- South Carolina, another state.

LB- not a state this time. Library Board?

Isn't LB the abbreviation for a pound in measurements?

Oooh, good point, it is. The abbreviation for pounds (unit of weight) is in lowercase letters, though, which is why I didn't think of it (lb.). I think this is because of the Latin word for pounds. I don't know what that is, but in Spanish "pounds" is "libras". *shrug*

I always thought that about PC meaing PC computer. Sometimes when i look at LWW I sometimes think about a casting or production company name, idk.
