The soundtrack is now officially set for a December 7th release. You can pre-order at http://www.amazon.com/Chronicles-Narnia ... B0046CUJJA for the small price of $11.98.

They have also posted the cover art....

...what are your thoughts on the design?

I'd be very surprise to learn that was official artwork. There are a lot of red flags that go off for me when I look at it.

A. It's a different Aslan headshot from what's been used on every other piece of merchandising.

B. It's snowing. (Huh?)

C. No mention of Walden Media or Fox anywhere on the cover.

D. It's not exactly.... professional looking imho.

E. Some time ago Amazon started allowing regular people to upload images. Why? I don't know. But this certainly makes me think it's fanart.

Wow, I'm surprised Amazon would allow that! But that was exactly my opinion on the cover: not at all professional. Very fuzzy.
My only guess with the snow factor(if this was official) is, as glumPuddle has stated, that they're trying(again) to remind you of the magic and success of LWW(like the snow in the trailer).

I would be tempted to say the same. It looks pretty poor if i'm being honest.

That said, i thought the same exact same thing about that horrendous promotional image of the Dawn Treader with the incomplete mast and sail which looked so awful and cheap and amateur looking that i figured there was no way it could be anything other than fan-art... and that turned out to be the real deal, so i wouldn't be surprised if this was genuine too.

Um, well, I think it's just a temp. promo image for the soundtrack and not the real deal, but if it really is, I have to say that it's a poor choice. I do like the fact that Aslan is seen front and center, since he has been a bit diminished on the PC and VDT posters. The snow, however, makes no sense. When I first saw it, I thought "oh, it's just another 'inspired by' LWW cd". Anybody else seeing the image of the White Witch from the LWW poster where she wears Aslan's mane on the snowy BG mixed with Aslan's face? (I hope the filmmakers aren't getting ideas on what I'm thinking here).

I am glad the soundtrack is coming out before the movie. I want to get the soundtrack and listen to it so many times I memorize it before I see the movie.

New Cover Art: (play.com, Amazon.com etc.)

Also, "There's a Place for Us" is now available though iTunes in the US. I'd love to get my hands on the cover art for this single if anyone can help out. (Not available through the Swedish iTunes store yet). It's using the "Aslan in a Snowstorm" artwork for some reason.

EDIT: Amazon.com now uses this "new" artwork. It's a bit weird that they're using the yellow/orange tinted Aslan from the first version of the Theatrical Poster and not the blue tinted one, used in the current version. How many of you think it'll change at least one more time before the release?

Temp release date for the soundtrack is set to December 3rd here in Sweden. Have a feeling that's not gonna stick, but it would certainly be cool to be one of the first to hear it, if it would come to that. :)

Do we have any sort of list of the tracks on the soundtrack? I know we have some clips of the score (which I'm refusing to listen to), but I'm wondering specifically about credits songs; they were always one of my favourite parts about the last two soundtracks.

December 7th? Isn't that later than the other soundtracks were released?

Yes, here is the story on the soundtrack listings :). Of course, this could have changed since then.

Those songs aren't on the soundtrack this time around though, sadly. However, you do get like 30 tracks of score! :)

Tell me about it. :D I did a rough count of the total running time of the VdT soundtrack based on the times here (and I should note that two track times are not listed), and I came up with 64.6. That's already more than PC which is at 59.6 for actual soundtrack times, and LWW which has 54.6. :D That makes me super happy because I LOVE the VdT score!

I managed to get hold of a promo copy of the VDT score from a guy in the UK. He's shipping it to me today, so hopefully, I'll have have it Tuesday or Wednesday next week. I'm not that good when it comes to doing reviews of soundtracks though, so I'm leaving that to someone else.

OK, so I've listened to the soundtrack now, some tracks more than once, and I have to say that I'm rather disappointed. The first half of the soundtrack is great, maybe even amazing; very magical. The second half though, is almost boring in comparison and tracks that I was really looking forward to hearing, like "Dragon Attack" (reminds me of QUEEN) and "Into Battle" didn't do anything for me.

I Will continue to listen to the soundtrack during the rest of the day on my iPod. Maybe I'll change my mind regarding some of the tracks?

I might even write down a review of it, we'll see.

Favourite tracks: Track 4: Reepicheep (1:00), Track 9: Market Forces (1:55), Track 12: Duel (1:47)

By editing the B-Roll footage I was able to isolate the background music in those videos, which are a couple of full tracks from the soundtrack.
Without further ado, I present:
VotDT Soundtrack Preview part 1
and part 2

Fun fact: When I did the same thing with PC, I ended up with some bits and pieces that aren't even on the official Soundtrack.
