How's About Prince Rilian?

New character for The Silver Chair. Son of Caspian and Ramandu's Daughter. Big back to back scenes (accompanied by Jill, Eustace, and Puddleglum) with the silver chair itself followed by the confrontation with the Lady of the Green Kirtle. Who should play him and why? Go!

I'm not exactly sure on who should portray Rilian but I hope he is someone in the age range of 27-30. And an actor who can perform dark, mysterious, and innocent. Someone like the actor who played Rilian in the BBC Narnia version of SC, but not too over the top.

Colin Morgan, Colin Morgan, Colin Morgan....Um, Colin Morgan? He played the title character in Merlin (a show I know has fans around NWeb), and he was able to pull off brilliantly both lighthearted parts and the darker, more intense scenes. My only concern is that he might look a little young.

Other suggestions? I know that Richard Armitage was a fave for a while.

In previous discussions on Prince Rilian, Harry Lloyd was a popular choice (my favorite still). He is still only 30 and would definitely be within the right age range for at least the next 5 years and maybe a little longer.

This more recent picture even more so for Rilian (IMHO):

The thing about Colin is that he looks so much like Skandar. I'm concerned about watching him as Rilian and thinking of him as Edmund's son instead of Caspian's.

As for Richard, I can see him as Lune maybe or King Erlian.

Now I love, loooovveeeeeeee Harry Lloyd. I've seen his range and I know that he can pull that off, along with his looks as he does look like he can be related to both Caspian and Liliandil. I do remember him from the last Rilian thread now. I didn't realize how long ago that was but thanks for bringing him back up. :)

Thomas Brodi-Sangster (he's 23, although he looks incredibly young)

Probably too young-looking for this one, but he's a super good actor and fits the general idea I have for Rillian's look.

EDIT: not really seeing Colin Morgan in that role :/

Ferb as Rilian? [-(

Every time I look at Thomas though I think that he could've done a good job as Edmund too besides Skandar. Everyone is reminding me of Edmund except for Harry Lloyd.

Colin Morgan is how I envision Shasta, so I'd rather save him for that. :)
I don't really have an idea of who I would want for Rilian, but I don't think I would want someone that's famous for being in another fantasy movie, like Richard Armitage.

Who should play Rillian? Easy. David Tennant. I don't know anyone who could play a madman as interestingly as Tennant.

Why not David Tennant for everything? :D Or Johnny Depp? :D :D

I've seen suggestions that David Tennant might make a good Puddleglum. He's also done a stint as Dr Who which also might qualify him to play Puddleglum. But I agree he would make a better Rilian, especially as the mad sort of Rilian.

I was watching Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and I thought the genie Cyrus played by Peter Gadiot looked a lot like Ben Barnes. I think he could easily play Rilian. I'm not sure if he's too old for the part, but Rilian was 30 when The Silver Chair takes place so it could work.

Haha, I'd love that, would be just like Tom Baker!

Finn Jones, I could actually see that. I approve. :ymhug:

I totally agree Lilygloves! I thought the same thing when watching Wonderland. Peter would make a good Rilian. If not maybe as Rabadash as well :)

You know, it's funny, in the past when I've kept an eye open for Rilian ideas, I always looked for actors that looked like Ben Barnes. But lately, I've been thinking about actors who look like Laura Brent instead.

I have two married friends, he's Hispanic and she's Caucasian, their son favors his mom's pale complexion, but has his dad's dark brown eyes.

The cool thing about having Rilian look like Lilliandil, I don't think Eustace would be as likely to recognize him as he spent so much time with Caspian. But perhaps it wouldn't make a difference.

I'll just toss out Jamie Bell as an example because I think he looks like a good cross between Ben Barnes and Laura Brent (at least the profile picture does ;)) ). I haven't seen him in much, but I know a lot of people like him.

Thoughts?

That's actually a very good point, but yeah it wouldn't make to much of a difference unless they go with someone with a striking resemblance with Ben Barnes.
I agree with Lilygloves, Peter Gadiot would make a great Rillian. There's something very Telmarine about him, not to mention that's he's a quality actor!
