The Lady of the Green Kirtle

I decided today who I'd like to see play LotGK.

Emily Blunt :D

Imho, she's a fantastic actress who can be good or bad, is quite lovely (though I'd prefer her to have blonde/red hair in the role), English. :ymapplause: I know many disagree with me on this, but I've always imagined the LotGK to be played by a much younger actress than most mentioned in the past because A. she's a witch and they don't age (at least I don't think they do ;)) ) and B. 20-year-old Rilian needs to fall for her without it coming across as super creepy.

Discuss.

That is an excellent choice, Watchful Admin. :) She has the right look and seems to have a good deal of acting experience while still a young actress.

On the old forum I had decided upon Eva Green but I think that now my choice would be Emily Blunt. :-$

Emily Blunt looks as if she'd be okay for the part and I wouldn't mind if she did.

In my opinion I'd love Natalie Dormer from The Tudors to play Lady of Green Kirtle. She is beautiful and also has that look where she can look sweet most of the time and sometimes it takes her one smirk or frown and automatically you easily feel intimidated. I think Natalie would be very perfact and if she's casted I hope she has her black hair.

Emily Blunt is not too bad, though I will renew my call for Uma Thurman.

Oh man... I never know who I want to play the characters; I can never decide! ;)

But I will say that on first glance, I loved Emily Blunt. She seems perfect. I also wouldn't mind Natalie Dormer - but in my opinion she seems to have more of that suspicious look about her and I'm not sure she'd draw me in as much. I think it would be harder for me to believe that she was "innocent" and "good", where as with Emily Blunt I think she could probably easily convince me that she wasn't as bad as everyone said.

I think whoever plays LotGK needs to be able to convincingly pull off both her "good" side and her bad side, and look believable either way.

I think I would prefer red or strawberry blonde hair, though. :p

Yeah if Natalie Dormer was casted and has to have blonde hair she be easily convinced as both good and bad. IDK she's a good actress and can pull it off.

I need to see a movie with Emily Blunt to see for myself, if I did I might change my mind. At this moment I do not know. :)

Just made a quick glance through the Character Profiles for the LotGK, and I guess her hair color isn't described by Lewis, though Pauline Baynes drew it as a light color... probably blonde. I guess thinking about it more, I really want her to be very different looking from the White Witch played by Tilda Swinton, so I wouldn't mind black hair. Probably dark brown hair is my least favorite color for the LotGK.

I'm still pouting over the fact she got snagged by The Golden Compass people. :ymsigh: She'd be a fantastic choice for this role, but I'm afraid there'd be too many comparisons going on.

I've never seen her before, but she is just lovely. :D And I like her mischievous grin she has going on in that picture.

I don't know what kind of movies you like so I don't know what to recommend for you. ;)) But I've seen her in The Devil Wears Prada which is a really good movie, though not an enjoyable one. Emily Blunt won some awards for that movie if I remember correctly, but be warned, there is some inappropriate stuff in there.
The movie that I have not seen that she received rave reviews for and was nominated for a ton of awards (including a Golden Globe) was The Young Victoria. Don't know if it's any good or not, I have an aunt that's been trying to get me to see it for forever though. ;))

I don't really have an actress in mind for her, just as long as she's not played by Tilda Swinton! However, I would like her to have red hair. I've always imagined her with red hair, and red would go nicely with her green dress.

My main thought for casting of LOTGK is that the actress should not look, as someone said up the page, "suspicious". Not evil at all. She should be the picture of innocence and beauty--at first. Although I think it's safe to say the audience will be guessing she's not completely good, it's never fun to give it away, and seeing a niave/innocent looking beauty suddenly turn into a horrid witch will be much more interesting. :D

I don't have an actress in my mind either except I hope she has dark blond or light brown hair, a heart shaped face with light or medium green eyes. Yes I also do not want her to look suspicious but gentle and sweet at the beginning before we know she's the bad guy.

I like the idea of a "Heart shaped face" too, Daughter_of_Ramandu! It would add to her initial sweetness of appearance. Though I'm not sure how that would look for real. Definitely red hair, wavy, I think, and either really long (all down her back) or just past shoulder length.
I think it would be interesting to have her be a rather short (and certainly very slender) person. Not above 5'5". So she seems even more harmless. And wasn't the WW quite tall? This would be another thing to set LotGK apart from her.

I completely second DamselJillPoll in suggesting Natalie Dormer to play LotGK. I saw an Agatha Christie mystery adaptation in which she played one of the villains. But you didn't know it till the very end of the film, and right up till then she was the sweetest little victim you could imagine (and short, too, if I remember right! :D ). I never suspected a thing. But at the end, she looks really evil. I thought of her right away while reading this topic, and when I went to see who played her, well, she'd already been recommended!
Trust me, Natalie Dormer can do it! And if her lack of red hair is an issue they can always dye it or use a wig.

Another plus: She has a very unique face, doesn't she?

For some reason, I have always imagined her to have dark hair. Maybe that is because of the actress in the BBC version.

That said, Emily Blunt looks perfect, in my opinion! :-bd

I like the look of Natalie Dormer, but I have a new suggestion:

Lily Cole:

She has a sweet, innocent looking face that would contrast beautifully with the whole "evil witch" thing. And for those of you who think she looks TOO innocent, trust me, she's a model and used to changing personas. There are pictures of her looking more, erm, "seductive" but they weren't appropriate for the forum. She's been in a couple of movies and I thought she was a decent enough actress. She has glorious looking hair, and would look fantastic in green. She's definetly my top pick for LOTGK right now :D

Great find Valiant_Lucy. Lilly Cole looks like Natalie Dormer though, I can see her as a runner up or stand in at this moment as I've not seen a movie with her in it.

Another thing is that she looks a little too innocent, like RD innocent to me, but she's already casted. One thing that I do love though is her hair color. That's the exact color I want LOGK hair to be.

Here's an idea I just thought about: Evangeline Lilly.

I know she's only played one major role, which is why its hard to judge whether she'd be good for the role or not. But if she can act like it, I'd say she looks great for the part.

Emily Blunt is very good in The Young Victoria. It's a wonderful film, if you like historical / costume drama. She plays a very different character to her role in The Devil Wears Prada, though! I think Emily Blunt would be fantastic for the role.

I kind of imagined someone like Idina Menzel, but I think someone younger may be a better choice. However, Idina has the ability to be both sweet and nasty!
