What do you think is most important,to be in the VODT movie?

Postby DestrierDragon » Sep 06, 2009 9:47 am

What scene, detail, character or theme is MOST important to make the movie worth it for you? What will keep the movie feeling close to the feel of the book?
For me, I think the change in Eustace, for example, and the adventurous feel of the whole thing would be important. :)

Wow, can I say the whole book?

Well I won't be that demanding, but it's my favorite narnia book of all of them so it'll be tough. ;)
I would have to say when they reach the end of the world. That part has always been pretty magical to me, so I really hope they get it right.

(aside of what I wrote in the Christianity section of this similar topic):
And we need that glimpse of Aslan's Country, from afar of course, but it has to be there, or what I believe to be Aslan's Country-

Those high mountains beyond the sun, that rose outside of this world.
After all, that I believe, is where Eustace and Jill enter through in SC, and that has similar description of Further up and Further In, in LB.

Anyone,
correct me if I am wrong about anything i just wrote please.

I agree with you narnian1. I believe we get a look at Aslan's Country
THESE:the magical feeling cslewis had when he wrote the book
Eustace's character
the essential themes (of course  ;) ) of forgivness, temptation, hope and longing.

Yeah, seeing Aslan's country will diffidently be amazing, but, personally, i just can't wait to see Eustace. Just everything about him. I can't wait to see Will act and the next two movies are basically riding on how he portrays the character, and I really want to see Eustace as a dragon, that would be pretty cool :)

The end scene, done like the book, is the scene that I think needs to be in the movie. Including Aslan changing from a Lamb into a Lion.

Well to me, it doesn't matter so much what's in it so long as they don't leave out important details and parts. My biggest pet peeve about the fouth Harry Potter movie is that they changed some of the important details and left out almost everything leading up to each of the tasks. X( So as long as they don't do that with VODT I think I will enjoy it thouroughly. ;)

Yes. The End of the World, Eustace as a Dragon...
Oh! The Dark Island: I need that. It has a really deep spiritual side (Lucy's "battle.") Oh, and another "Lucy Battle": The Island of the Dufflepuds.

One word: Longing.

The longing for adventure.

The longing to know what lies east.

The longing for one's true home.

The longing for your heart's desire, and the joy of finding it.

Whatever changes they make, if the idea of longing is strong, I think it will probably still feel close to the book to me. Just like how PC made tons of changes (some very irritating), but it still felt close to the book to me because of the themes of Return, Faith, and Myth.

That is a very good way to put it. LONGING
I hope they'll stick to the book but still make the changes that won't drastically alter the plot line.

It's very important that this makes it to the movie:
Eustace's change
Edmund's talk with Eustace
the sense of longing all of the crew feels to go to the end of the world
the fact our world is round and Caspian really wants to go and see it
Lucy's journey of jealously
All of these just have to be played out well in the movie for it to be a good adaptation.

I can't really say any one thing. I hope they keep those things in, especially the Lamb-to-Lion change, and his words to the children, but I also hope they don't modernize the wording like they did in the other two movies (especially PC). It takes away from the feeling when the wording is too, well, too rushed or something. Liam Neeson doesn't have the sonorous, rich, powerful voice that I imagine Aslan to have. He doesn't say things with enough power. I don't know, maybe it's just how the lines were written... but anyways, I want the wording itself to be how it was written in the book.

Specific quotes. I love quotes! I think my favorite in VDT is "No interviews without appointments except between nine and ten pm, second Saturday every month."
But there are many, many, many other really good quotes in VDT and I want to see as many of them as possible in the movie.
