“Not all of us can choose what we give up. The things we love are taken or are never ours at all. If we’re lucky, life is defined not by what we let go, but what we let in: friendship and kind words, frailty and hope.”

Iberia, a name of the entire modern Iberian peninsula, containing both Spain & Portugal, as well as an old Hellenic kingdom located in Georgia, in the Caucasus mountains, along with Colchis of the Golden Fleece.
I think your Georgian town is called after Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette , a Revolutionary hero in USA though loyal to the autocratic Louis XVI in France, but also believed having a Constitutional Monarchy such as the system then in use by his enemy, in USA, at any rate, Great Britain . He had a chequered reputation in France & Austria during & after the French revolution, dying as late as 1834.
