Black cats, considered lucky by ancient Celtic people and the Japanese, were considered especially unlucky by people in Western Europe and UK.

2. WHY do people in USA celebrate Thanksgiving? The tradition started when the pilgrims and Native Americans shared a feast together, celebrating the pilgrim's survival that year, and they were naturally thankful for that. We still celebrate it because a) it's a national holiday and b) it's an awesome holiday (that second reason may be a result of bias ).

2. WHY do you usually use yeast when you make bread? Yeast is necessary in most types of European bread to make the dough rise, and double in size before baking as loaves. Yeast is merely another name for leaven, and in the Middle East and India there are many sorts of unleavened or flat breads.
