Mini-Game: Guess the Book

Postby ValiantArcher » Jun 17, 2011 5:51 pm

It's time for another mini-game!

Here's how to play:
The first person writes down a quote from one of the Narnian books. In a spoiler box beneath it, they also write down the name of the book it comes from.
You all read the quote and try to guess which book it comes from. Do not look at the spoiler box until after you have made a guess in your head. Then, you can look at the book's title and if you have guessed correctly, you may post with the answer and a new quote. If you guessed incorrectly, you cannot post and must wait until the next quote has been posted before guessing again.

Rules:
1. Book quotes only are allowed; movie quotes are not.
2. Don't post quotes that are too generic.
You don't have to make them blatantly obvious (i.e., Caspian telling the Pevensies and Eustace that they're on the Dawn Treader), but do allow them to be distinctive enough that they can be guessed without cheating or extraneous time and thought.
3. The use of books is prohibited during the guessing process (AKA, no cheating and looking it up!), though of course allowed when someone is trying to write down the quote.
4. General forum rules apply.

Thanks to De_De for the game suggestion! :) Many thanks to coracle for the quote as well!
This game is not currently a 4PP game, but this may be changed at any time at the moderators' discretion. Additionally, this game may close at any time at the moderators' discretion.

Quote:
"Your Majesties! Queen Susan! King Edmund!" said a voice: and when Shasta turned to look at the speaker he nearly jumped out of his skin with surprise.

The Horse and his Boy

You come of the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve ... and that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor in earth.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

"Myself," said the Voice, very deep and low so that the earth shook: and again "Myself", loud and clear and gay: and then the third time "Myself," whispered so softly you could hardly hear it, and yet it seemed to come from all round you as if the leaves rustled with it.

The Horse and His Boy.

At any rate, there were no stars there, just blackness. But all around, the downpour of stars went on. And then the starless patch began to grow, spreading further and further out from the center of the sky. And presently a quarter of the whole sky was black, and then a half, and at last the rain of shooting stars was going on only low down near the horizon.

The Last Battle

Then in good time on the next day they saddled their horses and rode a great gallop into the Northern woods and alighted at that same fountain where the Queen got her death.

"The next question was how to get here. You can't go just by wanting to. So we talked and talked and at last the Professor said the only way would be by the Magic Rings. It was by those Rings that he and Aunt Polly got here long, long ago when they were only kids, years before we younger ones were born."

Voyage of the Dawn Treader. ;))

The first tree she looked at seemed at first glance to be not a tree at all but a huge man with a shaggy beard and great bushes of hair. She was not frightened: she had seen such things before. But when she looked again he was only a tree, though he was still moving.

Prince Caspian

The trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed.
