1st post in something I didn't start!!! ;))
There are so many songs that when I was a kid I heard one thing, but it wasn't what I thought it was. The most memorable was a Kenny Rogers song "Lucille" I think is the name of it. The lyrics (correctly) are "you picked a fine time to leave me Lucille, with 4 hungry children and a crop in the field." I heard it as "4 hundred children and a crop in the field." =)) =)) =)) =))

I misheard the lyrics to a song by Juice Newton. I think it was called So Many Ways. The correct lyrics are "You make my dark bright". For years (I think I was 12 or 13 before I knew otherwise), I thought she was saying, "You make my dog bite."

When I was little, we had this worship video, & for the longest time, I thought it said:

"People can't breathe! Yeah, People can't breathe!" =))

It really said:
"People get free!"

"Gladly the cross-eyed bear" instead of "Gladly the cross I'd bear"

"I've gotta new attitude!" was commonly believed to be "I've got a new pair of shoes!" by my sibs + I when we were younger.

Also, there is a radio ad jingle which for years we thought was "Hoosie cow, hoosie cow, hoosie cow!" when it was actually "Go see Cal!"

Yo listen up here's a story
About a little guy that lives in a blue world
And all day and all night and everything he sees
Is just blue like him inside and outside
Blue his house with a blue little window
And a blue corvette
And everything is blue for him and hisself
And everybody around
Cos he ain't got nobody to listen to

I'm blue da ba dee da ba die...

I have a blue house with a blue window.
Blue is the colour of all that I wear.
Blue are the streets and all the trees are too.
I have a girlfriend and she is so blue.
Blue are the people here that walk around,
Blue like my corvette, it's standing outside.
Blue are the words I say and what I think.
Blue are the feelings that live inside me.

I'm blue da ba dee da ba die...

Inside and outside blue his house
With the blue little window and a blue corvette
And everything is blue for him and hisself
And everybody around cause he aint got
Nobody to listen to

where it said da ba dee da ba die, i thought it was if i was greene i would die if i were green i would die.

On a Hillsong United song I ardently thought the singer (whom had a very thick Australian accent), was singing, "You are the universe, you are everyone on earth."
I later found out he was saying, "You hold the universe, you hold everyone on earth." ;))

Oh my goodness! Cal Worthington...I couldn't understand "Go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal!" either when I was young. Although I can't write what I thought it was (inappropriate for NW).

original song:

"Taste and see that the Lord is good....."

the mistake:

"Baste and eat that the Lord is good....."

"Augustine just woke up with a broken arm,
all this time, he's never been awake before."

It really goes:
"Augustine just woke up with a broken heart,
all this time, he's never been awake before."

I've misheard too many lyrics to count and now I can't remember all of them, but one I found funny was;
"Let my lysol sing to You," instead of "Let my life song sing to You," ;))

In the song Eton Rifles by the British group The Jam, I used to think the words were "sup up your beer and collect your face" but it's really "sup up your beer and collect your fags".

(In Britain 'fags' is slang for cigarettes BTW). ;)
Make your choice adventurous stranger.
Strike the bell and bide the danger.
Or wonder 'till it drives you mad
what would have happened if you had.
