Projected Christian Analogies in the Series

This topic is for listing similarities between the Chronicles and the Bible/Christianity that you have noticed but C.S. Lewis may not have intended.

For instance, I like to think that Caspian X bringing the Narnians out of hiding is like Moses leading his people back to the promised land.

Any other possibly unintentional similarities you guys have noticed?

Caspian X bringing the Narnians out of hiding might also be like Nehemiah leading the Ancient Hebrews out of Babylon as well as Moses leading the Hebrews out of Egypt. But I am sure there are plenty of other similarities.

What about Shasta's meeting with Aslan on the mountain being like Moses meeting Jehovah on the mountain? Or Aslan's triple 'Myself', suggesting the Holy Trinity? Though I suspect these were intended.

To me, HHB seems like the book that has the most parallels with modern Christianity. There are a lot of reasons why, but the biggest reason is because the relationship between Shasta and Aslan comes across as extremely intimate, and it's like Christianity in how God works through relationships with individuals (instead of nations) today.

your not explaining it bad TheGeneral, !!! I agree with you that HHB has a lot of parallels in it!
One thing that may seem weird to others, but to me is a little parallel that CS Lewis may not have intended is this. The White Witch is white, and she covers Narnia in ice and snow, which are also white. Satan tries to make sin and evil thing look good some times. When we humans think of white, we think of good. However, with the Witch, under that "whiteness" was evil.

Great example, aslansothername! You made me think of Moby Dick, the white whale. Melville thought "white" was evil somehow... But doesn't this go back to Satan transforming himself into an angel of light? [2 Corinthians 11:14] Of wolves in sheep's clothing? Good noggin work!

A couple weeks ago, I heard a sermon about end times. In the Bible in Revelation (don't know where), the stars fall out of the sky during the end times and in LB the stars also fall at the end of the world.

I read the verse 220chrisTian referred to: “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” 2 Corinthians 11:14 (NIV) I see how this fits the White Witch, but this also reminds me of Shift and Puzzle. Shift also tries to fool everyone and make them think something is a hero and a king when in reality it’s just a fake.

I have seen Caspian parallelled to various people- such as David.

I like the Caspian-David comparison, though I've never heard it before. Both had to hide because the king wanted to kill them, and both raised up an army. I think there's probably more too, but I'd have to check to make sure I'm accurate.

I've always thought that Caspian was like David. Running from the king. Raising up an army... it all seems rather like David.

And isn't there a Psalm about the trees of the field clapping their hands? Sounds like PC to me.

Yes, the trees of the field clap their hands, but it's in Isaiah, not the Psalms.

For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

The scene in HHB where Cor finds Aslan beside him in the mountain pass and Aslan whispers that he is 'Myself', reminds me of the scene in 1st Kings where Elijah is on the mountain and God is not a fire, not an earthquake, not a storm, but a 'gentle whisper'.

I thought the "I am Myself" part is like the Burning Bush speaking to Moshe saying "I am who I am". The Tetragrammaton represents "I am who I am". And of course, the fact that it is said three times is a big clue.
