Experience first, then an agent. Chances are that not many agents would be willing to represent you unless you have a little experience first. Auditioning for school plays and community plays are a great way to start. There may also be an art center or children's theater in your area that would be open to beginning actors. Some acting classes culminate in a showcase as well.

^ Thank you! Experience is a trouble...getting some, that is. Question: with my build, I could very well be able to do some (modest, of course!) modeling. How do you get started in that? Will it even help my film career? Maybe do that in commercials?

And Damsel, so far I haven't gotten to find out if we can or not yet. :(

I've got a bit of experience too, and hopefully will get into acting on stage or on film :)

age 4-6: infant school christmas plays - i was the only girl out of the 3 wise men at 6

age 9 - playing card in schools alice in wonderland

age 10 - farmer (speaking, dancing + solo singing part!) in my schools jack in the beanstalk.

age 15 - school's bugsy malone as lots of small singing and dancing. plus parts in drama lessons, including solo speechs

age 16 - lots of solo and group work in drama lessons, including having to learn scripted pieces.

:) I have also been in a local drama club for 10 years and do singing lessons.
will this kind of experience help me get into films when i'm older or do i need something else?

plus you guys really sound like you know alot about acting :p

Thank you georgiefan1 :D

Plus, Lucy Of Narnia, you could join a local drama group - it is great fun, you get to meet loads of new people, you gain confidence AND you get to act!!! Believe me, I've been in the same drama group for 10 years coz I love it so much. My friends there are like my second family :)

the drama group I'm in is just a theatre group outside of school, but there are drama schools you can go to instead of regular schools i think...

Yes I agree with Ktherebelious there are some performance art schools. I was in regular schools but my best friend went to a visual performing arts school for her music and it had acting as well. But if I was you Lucy of Narnia I'd finish the homeschooling, try to do that spring class, go out for a community theatre play and once you get to college try getting into a lot of the acting programs there and anything in liberal arts, including some film, speech, screenwriting, etc, this will open up more opportunities for you in the buisness and looks fantastic on a resume.
