They're playing us here so I just gotta figure out when to get tickets and not miss class :P

Ah, I see now. I guess I'm used to NHL rules, where they just go to a shootout after the one sudden death overtime period. Hope you can get to go the championship game. Hockey is such a fun sport to watch in person.

It also look like the Daytona 500 will be delayed a little bit longer because of the rain.X(

I know :( I'm not happy about it. Hopefully it'll clear up soon.

Yeah Hockey is fun to watch. I've never followed professional hockey, but I'm seriously considering starting. It's a wonderful sport :D

Hockey is my second favorite sport (next to baseball). I started following pro hockey about 4 years ago, when I adopted the Phoenix Coyotes as my team. They were geographically the closest team to me at that time (with the exception of the Dallas Stars), and because I liked their name. :p It's been a little tough keeping up with them recently because of the rather late start times of the games, and the fact that I live in the UK now. :( But it's been a lot of fun.

This is the first time ever in Nascar history that the Daytona 500 was canceled due to rain.

It will begin tomorrow at 12 if all goes well.

Daytona 500 under way. It's about the 85th lap now. Terry Labonte is actually doing pretty well so far.:ymapplause:

...and he just spun out :P I imagine he'll be back in it soon enough though, it didn't look that bad.

Burton is doing excellently :D As is Stewart.

Danica Patrick, Tevor Bayne, and Jimmie Johnson among others wrecked early. I believe the first two are back in now, but a few laps behind.

I kind of jinxed him didn't I? #-o He's back in it now, and looking good. Denny Hamlin was also doing well for a moment there...

Red Flag! Montoya's car went out of control under caution and hit one of the cleaning trucks carrying a 200 gallons of jet fuel creating a small inferno. Thankfully everyone is okay! That's a first... only at Daytona!

That was some fire. Glad everyone was fine. The announcers couldn't stop saying what a freak accident it was. The top ten finishers were:

1. Matt Kenseth
2. Dale Earnhardt Jr.
3. Greg Biffle
4. Denny Hamlin
5. Jeff Burton
6. Paul Menard
7. Kevin Harvick
8. Carl Edwards
9. Joey Logano
10. Mark Martin

It was a fun one. Terry Labonte had my hopes for a bit there, but at least Hamlin and Burton finished well.

MLB Spring Training is underway, and the regular season starts in a month. I always get excited at this time of year! :D

Also, didn't watch it, but Denny Hamlin won at Phoenix yesterday! :)

I'm getting excited too. :) What is your baseball team of choice, AstroWolfD? I like the Dodgers.

The Dodgers are a good team. My team is the Astros (enter comment about how horrible they were last year here). They're kind of in a bit of an awkward situation at the moment, with the new owner and everything and having to move to the AL next year, but I'm still looking forward to some (hopefully) competitive baseball from them this season. :D The new expanded playoff system might even make it a bit more interesting...

I know we will have an Olympic thread forthcoming, but I thought I'd let you know that I'm starting a series on my blog intending to get casual gymnastics fans back into the loop as far as news and stories leading up to the Olympics. I'd really appreciate it if you would take a look and let me know if you found the information interesting and helpful! :) I've only got the intro up for now, but I'll have Part 1 up in a day or so.

Speaking of Olympics, I'll be keeping an eye on US Fencing. The US was the 2nd best nation in fencing in 08, taking 6 medals, only getting beat by Italy's 7, and besting France's 4. It helps when the US sweeps the Women's Saber event 1-2-3. Those fencing medals were the first the US won in the 08 Olympics, even before Michael Phelps won his 8 Golds.

Nice article, Gymfan! It's a good reminder to casual fans like me that gymnasts work as hard as other athletes (I know that, but coverage tends to be limited to big events).

I enjoyed your gymnastics discussions during the Beijing Olympics and look forward to your analysis this year as well.

The Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas is today at 2:00 EST. Looks like a good one. I'll be watching it for sure.
