Re: Fortunately/Unfortunately
Fortunately, the government, being the government, mustered all our armed forces to seize the shuttle and intern the astronauts because they didn't have correctly stamped passports with the correct visas.

Unfortunately, the government took three months to do so.

Re: Fortunately/Unfortunately
Fortunately, the shuttle was inoperable because it didn't fit through the driveway and the local police and prison guards had no difficulty imprisoning the astronauts.

Unfortunately, the astronauts and the other prisoners now all had to go without supper that night.

Fortunately, poor ickle prisoners cannot be treated inhumanely and so the Prison Governor arranged to deliver by helicopter enough pizzas to feed everyone.

Re: Fortunately/Unfortunately
Unfortunately, once everyone was fed, they discovered that the pizza boxes made good lock-picks and the prisoners and astronauts recovered the shuttle and headed off into outer space where there was no police jurisdiction while the Prison Governor was called up to explain how everything went so very, very wrong while he was in charge.

Re: Fortunately/Unfortunately
Fortunately, the prison governor was very relieved to be relieved of his duties, and after pointing out that three months is an unacceptably long wait for the government to organize itself, went off to do something useful like disaster relief.

Unfortunately, one disaster that he couldn't help with was the spaceship crash-landing on a foreign planet.

Re: Fortunately/Unfortunately
Fortunately, what happens on a far distant planet, even if it is the same galaxy, to a bunch of runaway astronauts accompanying a mob of convicts, supplied with nothing more than left over pizza, isn't likely to be the problem of anyone back on Earth.

Unfortunately, the inhabitants of that foreign planet discover Earth's apathetic response to this disaster, and begin plotting their revenge.

Re: Fortunately/Unfortunately
Fortunately, cooler minds prevailed, and earth inhabitants were given a chance to learn about and respond appropriately to the disaster.

Unfortunately, the message informing them of this was mis-translated, and it was believed to be just a cat walking across a keyboard.

Fortunately, it turned out to be a talking cat, and it corrected the translation.

Unfortunately, the talking cat then had to deal with becoming a celebrity and having its every move documented by paparazzi.

Fortunately, the talking cat knew a bunch of normal cats that could help him get away from the crowds.

Re: Fortunately/Unfortunately
Unfortunately on Earth people were far too interested in talking cats, cats that think they can talk and other cute felines, who never shut up, to be worried about a bunch of exiled prisoners in a land far, far away, and goodness knows where.
