I just got the Narnia coloring book for my birthday. I was a bit surprised by some of the illustrations they chose but I am looking forward to coloring.

If you have, do you plan to look at the color pictures in the books or pick the colors you want to use? I plan on check the text for any mention of colors and go from there.

I got the book a while ago. I think I will use colours I remember but be creative for others.

Twig's, is this coloring book full of Pauline Baynes' illustrations, or do they have new art for it?

Remember to give Lucy blonde hair, please! ;) ;))

Valia, this is Baynes pictures, and there are also some 'wallpaper' pages with a repeated small picture or pictures. I haven't worked out what I will do with those yet.

Thanks, Auntie! :) It does sound nice, though those wallpaper pages sound like a challenge! I'd be tempted to color each repeating picture the same, but that also sounds like it'd be a bit boring. ;))

I bought the book, the repeating images are the only real thing I dislike about it.
I actually like the look and the other art though. I was not sure I would actually color it considering I am not hugely into coloring books, but, my brother advised me to because he has coloring pencils. So, I guess I will. :)

I have the coloring book! it's amazing :) And as some have said, colored pencils are the best choice for this book :)

I have this book too! Unfortunately it's here with me in the UK and my Derwent Artists pencils are in Australia at my parents' house. But one day the twain shall meet... :D

Looking at the pictures, I'm not rapt with the ones that show a repeating pattern of the same illustration(s) all over the page, but I guess one could try different colours on each. With the ones that show a quote from the books with a background pattern, I might use gold or silver metallic pen to fill in the letters and then pencils for the background. I'd definitely experiment on a spare piece of paper to make sure the colours and effects work well before tackling the book itself.
