MLG's costume

Postby Eustace » Sep 22, 2009 5:12 am

I want to make the dress MLG is wearing. Does anyone have an idea of what cloth to use and what pattern to use?

I'm lost. :-\ By "MLG" do you mean the little girl in pink, Gael? I will feel so dumb if MLG is some major character that I don't even know about. :p

Yeah, I think they (the powers that be) are now calling that little girl MLG - Mysterious Little Girl.

She does have a cute dress!

Do you want a pattern in a girls' size or a misses' size? Either way, there are plenty of patterns that would be close, as it looks like a pretty simple dress.

Two front pieces: bodice with a notched or v-neck, and a skirt, with the seam just at the waist, the back is probably three pieces, as it looks like it laces up the back in one picture. It looks like it has some wide trim at the hem in a darker purple than the dress. The sleeves are cute—they remind me of the ones on Lucy's blue Narnia dress... but these are open almost to the elbow, with the corners rounded. A bit petal-like, almost.

Hee, who knew we'd get another girl character in costume? :D That's one positive, even if the addition is making me nervous...

What are everyone's thoughts on the design of the costume itself?

Surely the look of Gael and Gael's Mum's costumes alone tell us for certain that they are from The Lone Islands? Just looking at some of the other photos of slaves being bundled into row-boats from the Narrowhaven filming, there is a near perfect similarity in costume style. Im no costume expert, and im sure there are people out there who could give you a much more detailed comparision and analysis of the costume specifics, but from a general view, i'd be fairly confident to say they are of the exact same style.

I would definitely agree with you, icarus... I would say Gael and the man beside her are both certainly from the peasant class on the Lone Islands, as well as the women on the Dawn Treader in that one pic. My vote goes for a released slave seeking for her mother, or maybe just a girl and her dad trying to find their mum who has been taken by Pug for the slave trade.

Rhince's outfit looks completely Lone Islands as well... no indication that he's part of the crew. That makes me think they've just borrowed the name Rhince for Gael's father, and he's not the first mate.

I have this feeling that this fellow is first mate, actually. He's been the only one in blue/blue, as far as I can remember, and the embellishment on his armor is a bit different from the rest of the crew.

it's pink. The lighting makes it look greyish purple but it's pink. The dress looks pretty simple. It shouldn't be too hard to find a simple dress pattern at a fabric store or something...
