Faun played by Steven Rookie

Postby Bother Eustace » Nov 18, 2009 1:10 pm

Alright, a new News Story has been posted about the blog of one of the actors playing a Telmarine (The Belligerent Telmarine, I believe.) There was a link to his blog there. The blog had two interesting tidbits about the characters of Rhince and Rynelf, which I gobbled up enthusiastically; however, at the very end, the blog mentions another actor in the Narnia movie named Steven Rookie; judging by the picture, he plays a faun. The blog's author said this about Steven Rookie's character: "I cannot disclose much about his role, but rest assured that he will capture your attention on the big screen." That immediately makes me curious; why would a faun have such a pivotal role that it can't even be discussed, yet it will 'grab our attention'? I don't mean to cause any added worry (I know we have enough with MLG and the 'unfathomable fate'), I just want to see what the rest of you think. I think what interests me is that the blog's author felt no reservation discussing Rhince's role, yet he specifically says he can't speak of Steven Rookie's.
What are ya'lls thoughts?

fantasia_kitty got confirmation the other week that it was Morgan Evans's faun character who had earned the nickname of Randy the Faun (he also played a random faun character in Prince Caspian, which may or may not have contributed towards the nickname ;) )

see over here: :)

This development kind of gets me thinking that they have added some kind of plot; a more complex plot than just 'find the seven lords, find the end of the world, maybe let a wife hop in the cart, and then go home'. The MLG, unfathomable fate, and now a faun that will be worth watching who was definitely not in the original book! Hmmmm, it's like a big puzzle that I'm so curious to see how everything fits together but on the other hand I'm not sure I will like what I see when it is all together.

Weird! Maybe he helps defeat Governor Gumpas or something like that. Or perhaps helps Eustace become nice! Definitely keeping my eye out for more info. Could you please link me to the blog?

I don't think we have to worry too much about this character. He'll probably just have a brief moment of glory and then we'll forget all about him again.

Still, it makes one wonder... /:)

I just posted a brief update on Steven Rooke on the VDT extras casting thread. He is apparently playing "multiple characters" and at least 2 of those characters will be "Nausus" (who i would perhaps assume to be the faun's name?) and Reepicheep. Click his name below to see his resume:

Steven Rooke - "Nausus" and "Reepicheep"
2009 / NARNIA - THE INVISIBLE ARMY / Nausus and Reepicheep / Dragons Prow / Dir: Michael Apted

or here to see his photo:

http://www.kublerauckland.com/Pages/Act ... nRooke.htm

EDIT: It seems that like "Mentius" in the last movie, "Nausus" is also one of the fauns mentioned during the Dancing Lawn scene in the book:

http://narnia.wikia.com/wiki/Nausus

It is also worth noting that Mirko Grillini misspelled Steven's surname when he mentioned him in his blog back when we first heard of him - it is actually "Rooke" not "Rookie". I would assume Mirko transcribed peoples names phonetically based on what he had heard, and that "Rooke" is pronounced the same as "Rookie".
