Narnia Facebook page credits CS Lewis with kissing scene
The official Narnia Facebook page often posts images from the films randomly paired with a quote from the books. Recently, they made a huge error.
Take a look
Yes, that is a line from the dreaded kissing scene in the Prince Caspian movie that is credited to "CS Lewis, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe."
A quote from a controversial scene in the PC movie being attributed to C.S. Lewis (in LWW). Clearly, a huge goof here.
If you are as concerned about this as I am, please send an e-mail to TMPcorrections@harpercollins.com. I already e-mailed them, and got a nice response informing me that my feedback had been passed along. But the image has not been removed. I think multiple messages might accomplish something.
Maybe this is a petty thing, but misquoting C.S. Lewis is a common problem on social media, and it was really disheartening to see it on the official Narnia Facebook page.
UPDATE: The image has been removed! Thanks everyone!

I totally agree with you. I posted on that thread shortly after it went up and got more likes on my post than anything I've ever posted before. Thanks for the e-mail address. Will send something as soon as I can. Hopefully they will correct it if they get enough feedback. Or at least take it down.

NarniaWebbers for ever!!!!
Thank you for making sure we knew about it (so we could act), and for telling the Harpercollins people about it too!

Re: Narnia Facebook page credits CS Lewis with kissing scene
Nice to finally see some kind of response to concerns about the page.
I still wish they would stop crediting Narnia quotes to simply "C.S. Lewis." Here are some of the worst:
"Pooh! Grown-ups are always thinking of uninteresting explanations." - C.S. Lewis
"No great wisdom can be reached without sacrifice." - C.S. Lewis
These are clearly not the kinds of things C.S. Lewis himself would say. He was writing characters in a story. The second one is the most alarming. That was said by Uncle Andrew trying to justify his evil actions. Jadis later made a similar statement. Crediting a quote like that to simply "C.S. Lewis," and randomly pairing it with a character holding a sword, is very misleading and potentially damaging.
I get the sense that the page is run rather carelessly, and without respect or knowledge of the material. Maybe it's a petty thing to complain about. But we're in the social media age, and this is the Official Narnia Facebook page. I would like to see The Chronicles of Narnia better represented on Facebook.

Good grief; that first misquotation is bad enough, but the second one is downright painful. Hopefully now that they've been sent a number of messages about the most recent bungle, whoever creates these will be more diligent about accuracy and making sure the quotes are not presented in a misleading way. If they continue to do this sort of thing, though, I suppose we can always try another email campaign to see if that has a positive impact. I honestly expect better from HarperCollins. =/

If sending a few emails is this effective, maybe we should start thinking about a campaign to get them to reorder the books into publication order again

What a good idea. I'd absolutely participate in something like that!

So, what was the quotation? Since it has been taken down, we can't read what it was anymore. I'm curious as to which line was attributed to C. S. Lewis.

So many layers of wrong. Thankful it was removed.
The weirdest part is that someone added "said Lucy" and "replied Edmund." There is also some poor punctuation. And why would someone think this was a good quote out of context in the first place?
