Fortunately, the person who gave you the paperwork was very thorough, so you have backup copies of everything.

Unfortunately, by the time you're able to mail the paperwork, it's already too late and they've set a band of raging animal rights bandits to come collect you.

Fortunately, your lawyer appears with proof that the elephant was, in fact, imported legally, so all this hassle was totally unnecessary.

Unfortunately, your lawyer has been disbarred from practicing law and can't help you.

Fortunately, you're getting very practiced at evading hunters and you take a vacation in the Sierra Nevadas.

Fortunately it is snowing in the Sierra Nevadas and so any remaining hunters get bogged down in a snow-drift.

Unfortunately you weren't prepared for that snow and now you're shivering in a cave.

Fortunately it is warmer as you go further in the cave, and you always carry a torch with you as you wonder at the stalactites & stalagmites.

Unfortunately, your torch blows out with a sudden gust of wind and not seeing the path before you, you plummet into a giant pit.

Fortunately, you land on something big and soft and aren't injured from the fall.

Fortunately, it was hibernating and so you can scramble into a crawl space and listen to it growl about people not looking where they were going.

Unfortunately, the bear sinks back into a deep slumber and the radiated warmth of its body lulls you into a much needed sleep as well, before you can escape.
