2. WHY did William the Conqueror think he had a right to invade England in 1066? According to the Bayeaux Tapestry, Harold had been shipwrecked on the coast of Normandy, when he allegedly promised over a bible that William, a vague relative of Edward the Confessor's mother Emma, would inherit the English throne. However, up to that point it was the Witan who decided who was to be king of England, rather than deciding by such private agreements.

They are named after the dog star - Sirius. The Romans believed that hot weather came from the dog star. Thus, dog days are hot days, usually in July and August. Sirius is a star that is visible in the summer sky.

1. Where did Australia's deadliest earthquake occur? 28th December, 1989 in Newcastle, NSW. Some buildings in Newcastle collapsed, at least 12 people died and the earthquake could be felt south of Sydney.

3. WHEN does daylight savings time end? According to this article daylight saving in USA ends at 2.00 am Sunday, November 3rd, when the clocks go back an hour. That is, in a week's time from tomorrow morning, please note, fellow NarniaWebbers. Our daylight saving, which started on 6th October, won't finish until 6th April 2014 (note to self to remember).
