1. Doberman Pinscher is a breed of dog that comes from the German province of Thuringia, where the breed was developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Doberman in 1890. Doberman was a debt collector who needed a suitably large and ferocious guard dog to protect himself.

1. Apparently, the southernmost continuously inhabited place in the world is the small hamlet of Puerto Toro (55°04'59S) on the island of Navarino on the southern tip of Chile. Penguins and scientists don't count.

Because our eyes are not adapted to night vision. With no electric light it would have made no sense to try and hunt, gather, cook and venture around in the dark. We also have a limited sense of smell and hearing, so we rely on our vision. (One person's opinion; I don't think we really know why).

At about 10,000 KM or just under 6,000 miles the Trans-Siberian Railway covers over 1/3 of the circumference of the Earth and is the world's longest railroad.
