The Haiku Game
Welcome to a new game, never played on NW before! This may be more complicated than our typical game, but if you enjoy and understand anything about writing and poetry, you just might enjoy it. I got the concept from another forum.
This game is called the Haiku Game. In each post you must write a Haiku (or Tanka, if the question is too difficult to answer in Haiku). You can read the links for more information, but for a quick overview, a Haiku is a poem with a syllable count that goes like this: 5-7-5. Tanka's go 5-7-5-7-7.
I'll take care of Person #1.
Person #2 comes along, and answers my question with a Haiku or Tanka, and then asks a new question for the next person to answer via poetry.
Person #3 answers the question Person #2 posted, with a Haiku or Tanka, and then asks a new question.
See? If you're intimidated by this game, feel free to sit by and watch for a few posts. In the end you may decide it's a game you're not comfortable playing, and that's fine. If you do play, rest assured that we don't ask perfection (and I haven't written much Haiku myself!), and, keeping in mind that this is just a game, we mainly ask that you just keep close watch over the number of your syllables.
The moderators reserve the right to close this game at any time.
Join this game my friend,
It's more fun than you can guess
I hope to see you.

God painted the grass
In a beautiful green shade
Humans to enjoy
Why are rainbows so beautiful?

Rainbows catch the sun
Carrying the rays inside them
To shine through the mist
Why are kittens so cute?

Little balls of fur
Tiny with sounds of wonder
And always sleepy

Books take us places
Other worlds times and people
We would never go
Why do you like Narnia?

Narnia is all
That imagination asks
There are trees that move
And kind animals that talk
And ships and skies of bright blue
Why do we have names?

Adam named Eve to
give her a title and now
we follow his lead
Why is the sky not always blue?

Clouds seek to conquer
Grey skies follow them fiercly
Always blue returns.
Why do owls eat mice?

To an owl's taste,
A mouse is exceptional,
And healthy as well.
Which way is north?

The north is the way
determined by the stars and
the magnetic poles.
Why is the ground hard?

Some days you battle yourself and other monsters.
Some days you just make soup.

If the ground were soft,
we wouldn't reach for the sky,
to improve our ways.
Why does love sometimes hurt?

The heart within us
Is tender and quite complex,
Even the wisest
Cannot fully explain it;
Love is past comprehension.
What is at the bottom of the ocean?

On the ocean bed
Lurk the huge crabs and huge clams
So don't go below!
(I hope I did that right!)
How should we then live?

As God commanded
To love Him and all others
And life will be full
why are pillows soft?

Soft for comforting
A wounded or weary soul;
Let the tired sleep.
(I hope that was right)

The sky far above
Must stretch from each horizon
And reach round again.
What makes the sun bright?
