The Lantern Waste Lamp

Postby CSLewisNarnia » Jul 17, 2012 2:17 pm

So, I've been trying to do those "3D Sidewalk images" on paper. (Hehe, not that skilled for the sidewalk yet ;)) ) My first try was this little tea candle, which turned out well for a first try. Then I thought it would be cool to do the Lamp from LWW. So this here is my second try at this 3D stuff. :)

The title-thing-a-ma-jigs on the top and bottom are my blog title water mark, or... uh.. title mark? Whichever.
Anyway, I hope you like it. :)
(And hopefully, it may make it on the sidewalk sometime :P )

I quite like how you did the lamppost; the perspective on it is very nicely done (as is the shading behind it). :) Do let us know if you ever draw it on a sidewalk! :D

That is really cool!
If you ever actually put it on a sidewalk, beware. You'll have avery Narnia fan for miles flocking to it thinking that one of the last "magical... chinks or chasms between worlds" has opened up. :D

Love this, Ella! I've tried drawing that scene several times, but to no avail (although I did end up with a lamppost I liked... once). ;)) I really liked how your lamppost turned out. And, as always, I love the shading (I'm rather obsessed with the shading when I draw :p ). Magnificent job! :D

I think it's very well drawn for one of your first tries, CSLewisNarnia! :) You did a great job finding the right angle and perspective to capture the view to the lamppost from the sidewalk and the growing size of the post itself really looks as if it is emerging from the snow covered ground. I'd also like to point out that I really admire how your pine trees turned out. They look very realistic and wintery! :D

Wonderful work and I'd love to see more! :) :)

Thank-you, Quinlin! :D
Aww, haha, I was really skeptical of the trees when I drew them, but I'm glad that they apparently turned out okay! :P

This art form is such an original idea!!! Great thinking outside the box and keep up the good work! Like the others were saying, I'd want to see it if you ever draw it on a sidewalk!

As a suggestion: I assume you chose to do the stairs going down towards the lampost to make it the 3D effect...(which is perfectly fine! What good is artistic license if you can't use it? ;) ) But what about trying to get the fur coats in there somewhere? Just a suggestion, and you can discard as fast as you please. :D

Keep it up!
