Mermaids and Dancing Dryad....

Postby dragonseye » Jul 19, 2011 10:26 pm

I sketched this at work today.

The dryad isn't complete yet, I'll work on it tomorrow. Originally I wanted her to be stretching and her arms turning into branches, but I couldn't get the gesture quite right. So she's dancing :)

Nice to see you around here again, dragonseye! I was a fan of your drawings back when, and I still am now!

I love how the dryad is tall and lithe-looking. It suit how a tree-woman should look. I think her tree is a young maple, or a willow. It would've been very cool to have her arms turn into trees, but I think it looks cool as it is. She looks like she's slowly dancing in time to the swaying of the trees.

Great work!

Thanks, Sweet! It's nice to be back. NFA feels like my home forum, it was always my favorite :]

I'm really not sure how to continue this drawing, it's rather confounding me...I was going to add other girls dancing in the background but the drawing space is so small (little sketchbook) that I feel it's just not worth it. Perhaps I'll do a larger size watercolor or something :]

Again, so very lovely a drawing! :) The proportions are good and the hair is excellent. Personally I prefer the dryad with with hands rather than with branches, so good choice in that :D . Though the branches could make it look more interesting...

Her face is very sweet and the clothes... Just how do you get the folds right? It's so difficult and yet her clothes look very real.

This is amazing, dragonseye! :) You did such a lovely job with all the details, from her flowing hair to the striking simplicity of her dress. She has such a beautiful face and a soft, gentle expression. I love her pose with her arms drawn up over her and how she is scattering flower petals. I can really see her moving with the pose you drew her in and she looks so happy! :)

I really admire your work! :ymapplause:

So pretty! I love your sketchy style and how you appear to so easily get the lines to flow naturally.

Oh my goodness, that's unbelievable. I love trying to sketch, so I can appreciate how difficult it is - and you did it so well!!! It's honestly perfect, I like it better with her arms, I can't believe you just sat down and did that. Great job. :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

Wow! This is really go Dragonseye! Her proportions are great, and your lines flow very nicely! I love the flower petels falling away from her finger tips. It adds a magical, Narnian touch to it! :)

lovely drawing! I like the soft flowing feel and the simpleness of her costume. Great job with the proportions! I also love how you have her hair falling freely. Having a few strands in front of her face is a nice touch. :) I'd love to see it watercolor. ;)

There is a gorgeous flow to this sketch! I love how there seems to be a faint breeze, perhaps just from her movement. There's a soft energy to her motions, a sweetness to her face, a silkiness to her hair. Wow. :D Simply lovely!

The sketch is more simple than I prefer but it's very well-drawn. Good work!
