Tirian on Stable Hill

Some of you may remember the original pencil drawing... Anyway, it was suggested that I color it. So... I did. A long time later. :p

That is amazing! And I believe I was the one who wanted to see it colored in :D I love it because one, Tirian is my favorite Narnian King. I love that coat like cloak on Tirian and your color blends. The fire looks very life like too. The scenery is everything what I imagine reading The Last Battle. The only thing is that I always imagined Tirian with longer hair and very dark blonde. But everything is great and great job!! ;) :ymapplause:

Oh, I remember the original drawing :) .

I do like the fire in the background and how it illuminates the whole picture. The light in the sword, face and clothing is well done. I first thought that there could be a little brighter edge on the sword, but as Tirian's body blocks the light from the fire, it might be unrealistic... Still, a tiny bit more light? :D

The tree has a wonderful, subtle texture that reminds me of pine trees. And as always, the clothes are really well done. There could me more dark shadows, but as the fire is so far away, that too might not be realistic and the picture is good as it is.

I'm so glad you like it, DJP! Thanks for the push to color it. :D

Mehinen, you might be right about it needing a more defined highlight on the sword. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments! :ymhug:

7chronicles, the firelight turned out best of all, I think. The challenge was to get the rest of the picture to match it! :)

Nice melding of the sword, belt, and overcoat. I like how you make very rich colors instead of dwelling on one for and easy effect.

Very nice! It reminds me of the drawings the Pevensies find in the caves in the PC movie. It seems almost to be 3rd dimensional when you look at Tirian and then at the background. :)

Thanks, Elanor! :)

I'm glad you like the variety of colors, Hermitess! ... You're right, when people color night scenes they are often very monotone. But then, there isn't a lot of color at night. But you can see more in firelight, so! :D

3-D? Cool! Thanks, Riella! :)

It looks fantastic! I love it. How long did it take you to draw and then color in?

That's a good question, Lilygloves. I think it took two hours for the original pencil drawing, and then at least four for the coloring. I worked on the coloring in fits and spurts for months before I decided it was as good as it was going to get. :)
